Sabri Baran Navşar Sports Club has become the go-to place for young people in Şemdinli.
The Sabri Baran Navşar Sports Club, operating in the Şemdinli district, has quickly become a popular meeting point for young people in the region. Founded with the support of Şemdinli businessman Sabri Özel, the club stands out particularly for the importance it places on its youth development program.
Club President Basri Alkan announced that this year they are focusing on youth development instead of the amateur league, concentrating on the 14, 16, and 18 age groups. He stated that they reached 450 students in their summer schools, emphasizing that parents entrust their children to the club with confidence. Alkan also shared that three players trained at the club have been transferred to Vanspor's youth academy, adding that their goal is to bring even more young talents into Turkish football.
Head coach İslam Güngör stated that they started their youth development programs with summer schools in 2023, and the number of students increased from 180 in the first year to 320 in the second. He also mentioned that they provide transportation support for students coming from villages, adding that their aim is to steer young people towards sports, keeping them away from bad habits.
The club's young athletes also expressed their satisfaction with these opportunities. Selahattin Eyyüp Ekici stated that he used to spend his time outdoors but now he has improved himself through football, while Mehmet Beraat Süren said that his best after-school activity is training. Bahoz Yüce also stated that thanks to the club, his social opportunities have increased and he is more involved in sports.
The club management aims to achieve success starting from Hakkari, then throughout Eastern Anatolia and across Türkiye.
