The \u201c\u0130smail Be\u015fik\u00e7i Tribute Night,\u201d jointly organized by the \u0130smail Be\u015fik\u00e7i Vakf\u0131 and the G\u00fcne\u015ftekin Vakf\u0131, was held at the Radisson Blu Ottomare.<\/p>\n
The event honored academic and author \u0130smail Be\u015fik\u00e7i, highlighting his scientific contributions, moral stance, and his role in addressing the historical realities of the Kurdish people. The night was attended by numerous intellectuals, artists, and business figures.<\/p>\n
The opening speeches were delivered by \u0130brahim G\u00fcrb\u00fcz, President of the \u0130smail Be\u015fik\u00e7i Foundation, and Ahmet G\u00fcne\u015ftekin, President of the G\u00fcne\u015ftekin Foundation.<\/p>\n
In his speech, \u0130brahim G\u00fcrb\u00fcz described \u0130smail Be\u015fik\u00e7i as \u201cthe honor of science and the conscience of humanity,\u201d noting that the foundation was established in 2012 to preserve Be\u015fik\u00e7i\u2019s intellectual legacy and to advance Kurdish studies.<\/p>\n
Emphasizing the importance of investments in science, culture, and the arts for the future of the Kurdish people, G\u00fcrb\u00fcz stated: \u201cWhen we look at the history of liberated nations, we see that a strong intellectual class and a strong economic class are decisive. What Kurds need most is knowledge and intellectual capacity.\u201d<\/p>\n
He added that the foundation has organized hundreds of panels, conferences, and symposiums to date, published numerous books, and provided scholarships for master\u2019s and doctoral students. He also noted that the foundation has branches in Diyarbak\u0131r and the Kurdistan Region of Iraq, in addition to Istanbul.<\/p>\n
G\u00fcrb\u00fcz further stated that a 10-dunam plot of land had been allocated to the foundation in Erbil by Masrour Barzani, where work is ongoing to establish the \u201c\u0130smail Be\u015fik\u00e7i Kurdology Academy\u201d as an educational and cultural center. He also noted initiatives to establish the \u201cBe\u015fik\u00e7i Center for Human Studies\u201d at Duhok University, as well as the presence of Be\u015fik\u00e7i busts at Soran and Duhok universities.<\/p>\n
Highlighting the importance of preserving language and culture, G\u00fcrb\u00fcz said: \u201cA nation that preserves its language and culture is reborn wherever it is.\u201d<\/p>\n
He also emphasized that the \u0130smail Be\u015fik\u00e7i Foundation is not only an institution, but also a center of conscience and awareness that supports scientific production and builds a bridge to the future.<\/p>\n
Due to health reasons, \u0130smail Be\u015fik\u00e7i joined the event online and expressed his gratitude to the organizers and participants.<\/p>\n
A message from the Prime Minister of the Kurdistan Regional Government, Masrour Barzani, was also read during the event. In his message, Barzani highlighted the importance of Be\u015fik\u00e7i\u2019s contributions to the understanding of the historical and social realities of the Kurdish people.<\/p>\n
During the night, artists Rew\u015fan and Delil Dilanar performed musical pieces, which were met with strong interest from the audience.<\/p>\n
The event concluded with a call to pass on \u0130smail Be\u015fik\u00e7i\u2019s intellectual legacy to future generations and to strengthen Kurdish cultural institutionalization.<\/p>\n
